The latency is most noticeable in RS14, sure you can reduce it in other software which you mentioned anyway. I dont want to be comparing here however the functionality will always be greater for a interface over the RTC, use whatever you like in the end. An interface can also work with more than RS14, obviously though, you know that. Not everyone can notice it and guess what, thats fine too, its still there though.įinally before I go and make some breakfast :3 you mention about the RTC working for other things, sure it can. Audio interface can be expensive however there are cheap ones at the same price as a RTC, at least here where I am. Its poorly made and a tad expensive for what it does. Interface is always going to be better, that doesnt make the RTC useless as some might say. You two need to stop bickering like a married couple. Just because you can't notice it, doesnt mean it isnt there. Originally posted by thejohnnewton:I disagree that the cable itself adds any noticeable latency. On PC it's probably more trouble to switch back and forth. I do play on Mac, which has a better sound sub-system than PC, so it's easier to swap interfaces. I have my original from 2011 and it still works fine. Which one I use with RS is which ever one is handy because for RS it makes no difference. Not that I think anyone is lying I think they are just mistaken.īTW in addition to the RTC I have two other interfaces with many more features that each cost many times the cost of a RTC. And then based on that somebody going out and buying additional hardware they don't need. My issue is with people saying things that just aren't true. If you need other features obviously you need an alternative. If you can't get a RTC to work on your system obviously you need an alternative. Do you notice any less latency? Do you hear any improvement in sound quality? I'd bet your answers will be no, no and no. Can you notice any latency? Then use any other interface of your choice. You'll likely get down to a few ms input latency. Adjust the buffer to the lowest you can get to work on your system. Download any of the Neural DSP Amp sims (14 day free trial). I disagree that the cable itself adds any noticeable latency. It's for those that are interested in a superior alternative. To me that is an absolute no-brainer.īut if the RTC is working for you, that's great. That's £10 more for lots of extra features, guaranteed compatibility with whatever other audio software you use, and superior build quality. The RTC which does nothing other than plug your guitar into your PC costs around £25. A decent, basic audio interface with multiple inputs, outputs, individual input/output volume controls, and various other helpful features will cost you around £35 or so. a port type that all new systems will have now and in the future. As you say, the RTC has issues with certain port types. I've been through two, and given that I generally practice sitting down the cables went through very little stress. The RTC build quality is not very good at all. The audio quality delivered by a decent audio interface is head and shoulders above the RTC. You may not notice it, but it's there and myself and others can "feel" it quite clearly. It does introduce more latency than a proper audio interface. While you may be a fan of the RTC, many people are not and for good reason. My point was that if you need a replacement and buy a basic audio interface instead, it will solve a lot of issues as well as opening the door to new and improved options outside of the Rocksmith software. This thread is about when it doesn't work, if you'd care to check the title. People like to blame it for everything under the sun for some reason but it actually does its job well for a low price (in the major market countries.) They don’t always play well with USB 3.0 or low power USB ports but they work fine for most people.
